The Magic of RSS?
I received an email promising increased traffic to my site and untold wealth, as a result. Normally, I am immune to such "Get Rich Quick" solicitations, but this time I went - Hmmm?
I had been reading about RSS (Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication) and figured I would try it as a means of driving traffic. I downloaded a free feed creator from http://www.feedforall.com/ and began publishing feed.
Step two is telling the world your feed exists. Not unlike the exercise of submitting your website to all the search engines, one must also submit your feed.
So, now I wait for the money to roll in . . .
My guess is this yet another tool to develop a presence for your firm. Not a stand alone tool, but one used in conjunction with other marketing efforts to create exposure for company. I believe the more irons in the marketing fire, the better.
If, however, I find this to be the magic bullet - you will be the first to know. I am willing to be the technological guinea pig for your benefit. Wish me luck!

RSS is probably not a magic bullet, but it does provide a way to communicate in a narrow and targeted stream of conciousness. The popularity of RSS is fundamentally based on time - a continuously dwindling currency as the information tsnumai washes deeper and deeper over information workers and consumers.
And given this rapid growth in popularity, it's still a fairly nascent concept that few people totally grasp, including us developers. ;-) As such, there are bound to be rough spots and some ugly edges. But, like many XML ideas, RSS has reached the tipping point - large companies everywhere are adopting it and for many purposes.
